What would we like to say about ourselves? There would be so much. About every single person. What connects us is the sense of family. The cohesion. Our history The beginnings of us hosting as a family go back to 1928 when our great-grandmother Walburga and our great-grandfather Josef Moritz welcomed the first guests to the Weßner Hof. Having grown from a farm into a successful hotel business, hospitality has always been a part of our tradition. We wish to bring people together here on holiday. And show them what our modern Bavarian country life looks like. Because agriculture is also simply part of us.

We would like our guests to take the Weßner Hof into their hearts. When we ask how the day went, we do this out of genuine interest. Because the personal is important to us. We have many regular guests - and that makes us truly happy and grateful. We are dedicated to the Weßner Hof with all its facets with all our hearts. For us, everything merges into each other, including our hotel Restaurant, the Farm Distillery, the building with further Holiday apartments, the stables for the animals. All is one and is managed with passion.

Even after so many years, we, Josef and Petra, run the Weßner Hof in the way that was handed down to us from our parents and grandparents - with our hearts and souls and a lot of passion. Our working days are very varied in view of the range of jobs at Weßner Hof. There’s never any downtime. We’re very happy that the entire family supports us. Even our grandmother Anni still actively helps us in her old age. Our satisfied guests give us so much appreciation. We are thus never bored or feel that we’re stuck in a rut because of the encouragement that we receive. And we’re constantly coming up with new ideas for the Weßner Hof.

We, the Moritz family, will always be there for you and willing to listen to you.

We are family people - warm & down-to-earth

Me, Josef,I grew up with farming at the Weßner Hof and with the hospitality business. You could also say that I grew into it. From working in the stables to making sausages - as a farmer and butcher, these are admittedly my functions. With the farm distillery centred around schnapps and gin I’ve been able to realise a dream.
Me, Petra,I work hand in hand with our daughter Stefanie. From greeting guests at the reception desk to providing service for the rooms or in the kitchen, we lend a hand everywhere in the hotel. Full of passion and enthusiasm.
Our grandmother Anni, with her 85 years, is our good soul at the hotel and always takes time for a nice chat.

Our daughter Stefanie is a flexible all-rounder, you could say. She looks after marketing and the reception desk. When there is a need, she can also be found in the kitchen, especially near the desserts. Furthermore, Stefanie is our "breakfast box girl". By the way, she’s also a great mum of 3 children.
Stefanie's husband, Schorsch, manages the restaurant and is our valued expert there for all aspects of service and indulgence.
And their children, Bruno, Rosa-Marie and Theo - the 4th generation at the farm - spread good cheer in the playground or in the stables with the animals.
Our younger daughter, Theresa, has also done her hotel training and is always available if we’re short of staff.

A family tradition since 1927

Our hotel history

Our establishment was originally a derelict farm. Even more than 500 years ago there was agriculture here.

1890 was when the Weßner Hof was constructed - my grandfather got it as part of a dowry.
1900: The Weßner Hof estate passed into the ownership of our Moritz family, but was not occupied until 1927.
1927 was when Josef Moritz and his wife Walburga moved in. Hence also our emblem: "Family tradition since 1927". The couple ran the farm with 7 goats and 3 oxen.
From farm to hospitality business. In 1928 , during a thunderstorm, hikers passed by and asked great-grandmother Walburga if there was somewhere that they could stay the night. She willingly took in the strangers and, subsequently, started the accommodation business for summer visitors.
During the war, the Weßner Hof was converted into a maternity home, but later was once again run as a hospitality business.

In the 1960s, the family expanded the Weßner Hof and built the restaurant with an apartment and guest rooms.
1972: Their son Josef - it becomes a tradition for sons to be called Josef - takes over the Weßner Hof together with his wife Anni. In the 1970s and 1980s, they set about making further alterations and extensions. The Weßner Hof becomes a 3* hotel with comfortable facilities and cosy areas for eating and drinking.
1989/2001: We, Josef and Petra, the third generation, entered the 'Hof’ business. There were further construction measures in the hotel and in the buildings used for agricultural purposes. In 2001, we took over the business completely.
To-date: Our daughters Stefanie and Theresa have stayed true to the hospitality tradition and have gone into the hotel business. Stefanie and her husband entered their parents' business. So, now, 4 generations live at the Weßner Hof.
