What would we like to say about ourselves? There is so much to share - about every single person in our family. What connects us is our sense of family, our togetherness, and our shared story. The beginnings of our journey as hosts date back to 1928, when our great-grandmother Walburga and great-grandfather Josef Moritz welcomed their first guests to the Weßner Hof. What began as a humble farm has grown into a successful hotel business. We want this to be a place where people come together and experience what modern Bavarian country life looks like. After all, agriculture is simply part of who we are.

We are dedicated to the Weßner Hof with all its facets and with all our hearts. For us, everything flows together: our hotel Restaurant, the Farm Distillery, the building with further Holiday apartments, and the stables for our animals. It is all connected and managed with passion.

Even after all these years, we, Josef and Petra, continue to run the Weßner Hof with the same dedication and passion passed down to us by our parents and grandparents. We pour our hearts and souls into every aspect of what we do. Our days are wonderfully diverse, filled with the wide range of tasks that come with running the Weßner Hof. There’s never a dull moment, and there’s always something to do.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our entire family. Even our grandmother Anni continues to help out with enthusiasm and energy, despite her age. The appreciation and encouragement we receive from our satisfied guests mean the world to us. Thanks to them, we never feel stuck in routine or at a standstill - we’re always inspired to dream up new ideas for the Weßner Hof.

We are family people - warm & down-to-earth

I’m Josef, and I grew up immersed in farm life and hospitality at the Weßner Hof - it’s in my blood. From tending the stables to crafting sausages, my work as a farmer and butcher reflects my roots. The addition of our farm distillery, focused on schnapps and gin, has been the fulfillment of a personal dream.
My wife, Petra, works closely with our daughter Stefanie to keep everything running smoothly. Whether welcoming guests at the reception, preparing rooms, or lending a hand in the kitchen, they’re always fully involved - with dedication and enthusiasm.
Our grandmother Anni, at 85, remains the heart of our hotel, always taking a moment to share a kind word and a warm smile with our guests.

Our daughter Stefanie is a true all-rounder, overseeing marketing and the reception desk while stepping in wherever she’s needed - especially when it comes to desserts. She’s earned the affectionate nickname “breakfast box girl” and, as a mother of three, balances her roles with admirable ease.
Her husband, Schorsch, manages the restaurant and ensures our guests experience exceptional service and culinary delights.
Their children - Bruno, Rosa-Marie, and Theo - represent the fourth generation at the Weßner Hof and can often be found spreading laughter and joy, whether at the playground or among the animals in the stables.
Our younger daughter, Theresa, who has completed her hotel management training, is always ready to step in and support whenever the need arises.

A family tradition since 1927

Our hotel's history

The Weßner Hof began as a neglected farm, with agricultural roots that date back over 500 years.

In 1890, the Weßner Hof was constructed and became part of my grandfather’s dowry.
By 1900, the estate officially passed into the ownership of the Moritz family, though it remained unoccupied until 1927.
That year, Josef Moritz and his wife Walburga moved in, marking the beginning of our family legacy - and inspiring our emblem: "Family tradition since 1927." The couple ran the farm with seven goats and three oxen.
From these humble beginnings, the Weßner Hof grew into a hospitality business. In 1928, during a thunderstorm, passing hikers asked great-grandmother Walburga for a place to stay the night. She warmly welcomed the strangers, and that simple act of kindness was the start of our guest accommodation for summer visitors.
During the war, the Weßner Hof was repurposed as a maternity home but later returned to its role as a guesthouse.

In the 1960s, the family expanded the property, adding a restaurant, an apartment, and guest rooms.
By 1972, the tradition of naming sons "Josef" continued when the next Josef Moritz took over the Weßner Hof with his wife Anni. During the 1970s and 1980s, they undertook significant renovations and expansions, transforming the Weßner Hof into a 3-star hotel with comfortable rooms and inviting spaces for dining and socializing.
In 1989, we - Josef and Petra - the third generation, joined the business. By 2001, we had fully taken over the management and further improved both the hotel and the agricultural buildings.
Today, our daughters Stefanie and Theresa continue the family tradition of hospitality. Stefanie and her husband have joined the family business, making the Weßner Hof home to four generations - a true testament to our legacy.
